Granny’s Chili

Introduction

A Fall favorite! Another Charleston tradition from my mother- homemade chili. The perfect snack or meal for any occasion. Simple and full of flavor, you can’t beat it. I enjoy mine in a large bowl topped with sour cream, shredded cheddar, and a side of corn bread. Comment down below what you think!

Ingredients You Will Need

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 taco seasoning packet
  • 1 medium onion
  • couple gloves of garlic
  • 1 medium can of tomato sauce
  • 1 small of can of tomato paste
  • 1 medium can of petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 medium can of kidney beans

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and sauté onion together, then drain all the grease
  2. Sprinkle taco seasoning over cooked ground beef following directions on seasoning packet
  3. Dice garlic cloves and mix with ground beef
  4. In a large pot, simmer beef, onion, and garlic together for a few minutes
  5. Add paste, sauce, and petite tomatoes to pot
  6. Drain and rinse kidney beans, then add to pot
  7. If chili is too thick for your liking, add a little water or beef broth
  8. If chili is too thin, simmer with top off in pot

For Best Results

I enjoy my chili in a large bowl with a dollop of sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and a piece of corn bread. Homemade chili reminds me of tailgating at football games with a cozy hoodie cheering on the team. Growing up, this is a cozy, comforting memory I hope to keep alive for my kids.
