Another Fall and Winter favorite! This is a Charlestonian tradition from my great grandmother. The perfect snack or dessert for all holiday occasions. Simple and full of flavor, you can’t beat it. Ingredients You Will Need
- 1/2 box of seeded raisins
- 1/2 pound candied pineapple
- 1/2 pound candied cherries
- 1/2 pound candied citron
- 1/2 pound brown sugar
- 1/2 pound butter
- 1-2 cups of chopped nuts (walnuts are my favorite)
- 1 3/4 cups self rising flour
- 6 eggs
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300
- Toss candied fruit and raisins with flour to coat
- Cream together butter and brown sugar
- Beat eggs and add to butter and sugar mixture
- Add in rest of flour and stir in nuts
- Line tube cake pan with brown paper and rub butter over paper
- Evenly spread batter in tube pan
- Cover top of pan with brown paper
- Place a shallow pan of water on the bottom rack of the oven
- Bake for 4 hours
